Yehlin Lee
李岳凌
Taipei / Paris
Born in Taiwan, Yehlin Lee has been active in the new music scene in Taiwan since 2001. As a master's degree holder in electronics from National Chiaotung University, Taiwan, he has experimented in a variety of ways to create sound. He has built his own binaural microphone, with which he made spatial soundscape recordings, and has developed algorithms using Max/MSP for electroacoustic music compositions. In 2002, he joined Taipei Sound Unit, a free-form sound art collective united by Chinese sound artist Dajuin Yao. Yehlin develops his music through extracting the internal energy contained inside the sound material, and cross-translates the metaphor within. His concept of soundscape work concerns the life that people live, and the neglected moments and places. In September 2004, Yehlin entered the DEA ATIAM program of IRCAM. In Feb 2005, he worked and studied with French composer Jean-Claude Eloy, and developed a performance environment using Max/MSP. He is also the translator of the official Chinese version of the Max/MSP tutorials of Cycling 74. Now he works and studies at L'atelier de Recherches Interactives, ENSAD, Paris.
