Lawrence R.Y. LI is a freelancer with a variety of interests and focuses. He has written extensively on music, sound art, film, technology and culture-related topics for numerous publications in Mainland China and Hong Kong. Li launched the first Chinese website about Glenn Gould back in 1998 and is now an avid blogger and civilian journalist. At the end of 2005 he initiated Global Noise Online, an information center for the new music/sound art/new media art scene in China and other developing areas. Global Noise Online is now a part of Chinese New Ear.

Li is also one of the original members of China Sound Unit and the co-blogger of ESWN Culture blog.
